This past Friday, staff from the Monticello and Buffalo Physical Therapy clinics ventured out to the Youth With a Mission campus in Buffalo to help pack food to send to kids in Haiti. In conjunction with Kids Against Hunger, we packed enough food to feed seven children for a YEAR in a country where (if my memory serves me right), 50% of children are so malnourished that they don't live long enough to see their 15th birthdays. It was refreshing to feel like we made a difference in a culture so distant from our own!
On a side note- I ran across a great article summarizing what exactly we do as physical therapists. It was published on Greatist.com (one of my favorite websites, with helpful, well-written info and graphics on topics such as fitness, heatlh and happiness)-- click here for more: The 8 Best Physical Therapy Methods Explained.
Here's to a happy and healthy 2013!
